Robert Hollebon CA, B.Com

Company Director

Background

After gaining his Batchelor of Commerce degree at the University of Otago with majors in Marketing, Economics, and Accounting, Robert commenced work in 1973 with the Ford Motor Company, gaining extensive experience in the field of Human Resources.

From there, he moved to Oamaru, and with de Geest Bros Ltd, worked in project Management with much of his time, spent on the Housing Program on The Clyde Dam Project.

In 1980, he started in Public Practice with Morton Baylis & Co, and J J Radford before joining Thompson Lang in 1987.

Robert is actively involved in Business Management and Strategic Planning and provides advice to small and medium sized business across differing business spectrums.

Together with his wife Di, they have two children, Richard and Andrea, both residing in London.

Interests

Over the years, Robert has taken a keen interest in most sports and been involved in the administration of Rugby, Rowing, and Golf. He remains active in Golf and struggling to remain in his ‘teens’. Outside his sporting interests, he is often challenged with DIY projects in Home Renovation and Alterations and Gardening.

From earlier times spent ‘on stage’, Robert has maintained his interest in Theatre and Opera.

Kevin Thompson B.Com, FCA

Consultant

Background

Kevin indicated a wish in 2005, to move towards retirement, and has worked reduced hours since that time.

We are delighted that he has continued his association with the firm as his experience, knowledge, and associations, continue to prove invaluable.

As a long standing partner of the former Partnership, Kevin has extensive experience in Business Advisory services to Small/medium business, Compliance and Tax Issues, and Assurance and Business Risk Management.

Kevin continues to work in these areas and we look forward to his assistance, particularly in the Assurance areas, in the years to come.

Christine Clegg CA, B.Com

Chartered Accountant - Manager

Background

Christine has been a Senior Member of the firm for many years and is well known to most, if not all, the valued clients.

Christine has extensive Accounting and Tax Expertise and has a wide understanding of clients operating in the retail, service, manufacturing, farming and small business sectors.

Over the years Christine has advised clients on relevant business structures, business and reporting systems, and has a good understanding of relevant Computer software and Bank assisted systems to aid all business types.

Christine’s knowledge on compliance issues as it relates to all forms of Income Tax, is well respected.

Interests

Christine has been involved, over the years, with the New Zealand Federation of Graduate Women (NZFGW) having been a past National Treasurer and is currently the Otago Branch Academic
Accountant.

While a keen Gym member and early morning Dog Walker, most time is spent helping other family members with after school activities and various sporting endeavours.

Michael Shaw B.Com CA

Chartered Accountant

Background

After leaving school, Michael commenced work in 1980 as an Accountancy Trainee with Barr Burgess & Stewart in Invercargill. While working, Michael studied part time towards his B.Com at the University of Otago Extension, in Invercargill.

After completing his formal qualifications in 1984, Michael moved to Oamaru and worked with Coopers and Lybrand ( previously known as Barr Burgess & Stewart) where he gained Corporate Accounting Experience through his Client associations up there.

In 1987, Michael shifted to Dunedin and was employed by DC Evans & Co, Chartered Accountants, until 2007, when he moved to Thompson Lang & Associates, in November that year.

Interests

After a long break from playing Golf Michael has, this summer, been trying to get back to playing semi regularly – and is enjoying the challenge.

Michael also enjoys spending time with his two children.

Gary Filipo B.Com

Accountant

Background

Gary Joined Thompson Lang & Associates Ltd in 2005, having completed his B.Com at Otago, the previous Year. He completed his 1st year professional exams in 2007 and is completing his final papers in 2008.

Prior to joining Thompson Lang, Gary had travelled widely and enjoyed various occupations while doing so.

Gary has gained extensive experience during his time with Thompson Lang particularly in the areas of:-


• The preparation of GST returns.
• Preparing & completing annual financial statements (MYOB/AO).
• The Preparation of Tax Returns (MYOB Accountants Office).
• Accounts payable.
• Accounts Receivable (MYOB Premier).
• Payroll and Paye (Acepays)
• Maintenance of company records and the filing of company annual returns.
• The Management of Client affairs involving processing monthly debtors statements, paying creditors, PAYE and payroll, GST (2 monthly) and creating one off invoices via Xcel.
• Audit and Systems advice.

Gary, while not a fitness fanatic, enjoys his time at the Gym and pounding the streets of Dunedin.

Jan McInnes

Senior Accounting Technician

Background

Prior to joining Thompson Lang & Associates Ltd Jan worked with Howarth Hunter Brocklebank, latterly Price Waterhouse Coopers, in Dunedin, for over 18 years. 

Jan has had considerable experience with Client affairs, particularly in the areas of:-

• Computer data entry
• The preparation of GST returns.
• Preparing & completing annual financial statements
• The Preparation of Tax Returns
• Accounts payable.
• Accounts Receivable.
• Payroll and Paye.
• Maintenance of company records & filing of company annual returns.
• Office Management in the form of processing monthly debtors statements, paying creditors, PAYE and payroll, GST .
• Also worked extensively with Excel, Word, and Publisher

Interests

Motor racing, collecting turtle paraphernalia, stained glass work, sewing, cooking, crossword puzzles, flower arranging and gardening.

Gaile Medder

Accounting Technician

Background

Gaile joined Thompson Lang and Associates in 2007, having gained considerable Office Management experience in Dunedin Businesses.

Gaile is enrolled at the University of Otago, and is working part time towards an Accounting Degree.

At work, Gaile is part of the Business Advisory/Compliance team, assisting small businesses in areas such as Payroll, PAYE, Goods and Services Tax, Accounts Payable and receivable and with their Financial Statements and Tax Returns.

When not tied up with Swimming Club commitments she can be found at home in the garden attending to her ever growing collection of roses.

Lisa Wooltorton

Accounts Clerk

Background

Lisa has been with the firm for many years and her bright cheery personality is known to all.

Beside front counter duties and keeping us all on our toes, Lisa has attended to all in house office procedures and more latterly, has been part of our Outsourcing team.

Involved in outsourcing, Lisa acts as Office Manager for small/medium sized clients, taking responsibility for such things as correspondence, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll.

Having fun and/with a good wine!!!!!!!
Lisa is actively involved with Ryan and Ben’s sporting endeavours and is a keen participant in the sports they play.

Keith Gilmore B.Com, ACA

Consultant

Background

Keith has had a long association with the firm and is contracted in the Assurance and Risk Management field, with which the firm is extensively involved.

Audit and Assurance work is required for numerous reasons and Keith has had extensive experience with Clubs and Society Audits, Not for Profit organisations, and various Company and Trust Audits.

As a result of his involvement in such areas, Keith is well qualified to discuss and advise on Organisational Structures, issues of Governance and Business systems, generally.

Interests

Keith enjoys Cricket and Harness Racing and is a Patron and Life Member of the Taieri Cricket Club.
